My name is Katie. I used to be an academic, then I became a stay at home mom, now I work part-time and blog part-time. I love to bake, travel, and spend time with my two boys. I’m lucky that I live in a great city with so many cultures and new places to explore. I love this James Beard quote, because it is all about simple pleasures and how using the best ingredients means everything. And also, bread, right?
I’ve been baking since I was little. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are standing on a yellow fold-out stool in my Grandmother’s kitchen and helping to stir and shape cookie dough. She taught me about doing things the right way and how to open your mind to new foods.
I grew up watching cooking shows, Julia Child, Martha Stewart, Ina Garten, Top Chef, and pretty much anything on the Food Network. Food helped me to get a glimpse into other people’s cultures and expand my view of the world. It has also given me an outlet to be creative, to experiment, and unlike many other things in my life, given me instant gratification.
I’m excited to start this new journey and share my recipes, my tips and tricks, and learn from you all as well.
